Peanut, a rescue dog from Greenville, North Carolina, had once been abused and was burned in a fire before spending about 9-months in a shelter.

“He doesn’t have lips anymore. His eyelids are also gone, and so he can’t close his eyes so therefore his eyes water. The tears drain into his nose and so he has nice little snot bubbles because of it. So it’s great, that adds to his character,” Holly Chandler, Peanut’s owner told CBS San Francisco.

Dog parents travelled from as far away as Florida to compete for the $1,500 prize and 4-foot tall trophy that Peanut took home.

In addition to looks, judges consider the dogs’ personality when determining a winner. Of the 29 dogs that competed, Peanut had it all!
